# Markdown and HTML docs

> What Dockito shows for each kind of file, and how docs are named and linked.

Dockito takes **Markdown** (`.md`, `.markdown`) and **HTML** (`.html`, `.htm`) files, up to 10 MB each.

## Links

Every doc gets a short link of its own, like `/f3n7uk6g4w9s`, the moment it's made. The link belongs to the doc. Renaming the doc never changes it, and a deleted doc's link is never given to another doc.

Add the file's extension to the link (`/f3n7uk6g4w9s.md`) to get the file itself, which is handy for scripts and agents.

## Names

A doc is named after the file it was first published as. Publishing a file with the **same name to the same place** updates that doc rather than making a new one. Rename a doc in the app to give it a different title; its link stays.

## Markdown

Markdown docs show with headings, tables, task lists, footnotes, highlighted code with a copy button, images and links. An outline on the side follows you as you read. Raw HTML inside Markdown is never run.

You can edit Markdown in the app: write on the page, use `/` for blocks, and paste from Google Docs or the web. **Changes** shows what you changed, and **Save** adds it to [History](/help/concepts/history).

## HTML

HTML docs open full window, as the page itself. They run in a sealed frame: their scripts work, but they can't read Dockito, your sign-in or other docs.

HTML docs aren't edited in the browser. Change the file (or ask your AI to) and publish it again.
